Culturevision & Niche Storytelling

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Join panelists for a discussion on writing ethnicity, race, and culture in television, and the importance of increasing diversity in the landscape of media. The personality of a culture can define the identity of a story, while also serving as a subtle commentary on a specific theme or subject matter. Writers behind Fresh Off the Boat, Empire, Master of None, and The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl will converse about tone, breaking stereotypes, using setting as a character, and the responsibility a writer has to their work.
