So you want to write a movie? A great way to get started is to ask yourself: “What genre is my story?” Is it…

• A fairy tale like Beauty and the Beast
• A romantic comedy like The Wedding Singer
• A deception comedy like Mrs. Doubtfire
• A curse movie like Liar, Liar
• A treasure hunt like Raiders of the Lost Ark
• The list goes on and on…

This class is an introduction to various genres, their specific conventions, their required scenes, and how the classic 3-Act Structure does NOT always apply. We will also talk about scenes that just about every movie has and how to innovate them.
