Moderator; producer The Trip to Bountiful, Dexter; production executive The Fast and the Furious; VP of Production HBO Barbarians at the Gate, And the Band Played On

The genesis of Dennis’ filmmaking career began with a Nikon F camera that his brother Gary gave him and the intimate portrait that he shot of his family’s Christmas. A native Texan, Dennis has overseen numerous commercially successful and award winning feature and television productions including: Horton Foote’s Academy Award winning, The Trip to Bountiful; Universal Pictures’ The Fast and the Furious and the acclaimed TV pilot, Dexter for Showtime. As VP of Production at HBO Pictures Dennis oversaw such award winning films as Barbarians at the Gate and And the Band Played On during HBO’s unprecedented Emmy reign. He was a resource advisor for the Sundance Institute and as an educator has served as an adjunct professor at USC, guest lectured, and mentored for the Producers Guild and Directors Guild. In 2009 Dennis created and is Chair of the Film Program at KD Conservatory, College of Film and Dramatic Arts, Dallas, Texas.


Dennis is active in the movement to keep production in the USA having served on the Runaway Production Committee at the Directors Guild of America, the FilmUSA Committee at the Producers Guild, which he Co-Chaired, and was appointed to the Runaway Advisory Committee of the California Film Commission where they successfully drafted incentive legislation for California. Dennis has moderated and/or participated on panels at the Sundance Summer Workshops, for the DGA at the American Film Market, the Austin Film Festival, among many others. Dennis served for three successful years as Director of the Lone Star Film Festival and Film Society. He is actively producing with his partners Michael Cain and Melina McKinnon at M3 Films.
