Richard Stephen Bell

Cinema Ed Films
Executive Director
New York Metro Area
Richard comes to AFF this year as part of the production team for “Shy Guys”, a hilarious new short film written and directed by veteran actor Fredric Lehne (Tallulah, Zero Dark Thirty, Men in Black, among many others) and starring 2016 Tony Winner Reed Birney (The Humans, House of Cards and many more). Richard is also the Founder and Executive Director of CINEMA ED, a non-profit, education based film and media company. They provide hands-on independent filmmaking classes and modules to secondary schools by connecting professional filmmakers with teachers and students in specially designed classes for each school.  Cinema Ed provides students professional skill training in filmmaking, but also shows them how to harness the storytelling power of today’s technologies in all of their classes.

For more information on CINEMA ED, check out their website: www.CinemaEd.org

Richard is also a screenwriter and actor. His feature screenplay, "Winkle", was a previous Semi-Finalist at the Austin Film Festival, and his feature screenplay, "Bean Sprout", was selected by the Nicholl Fellowships for Screenwriting as a Quarter-Finalist and as a Finalist by the Creative World Awards. Richard has also written and starred in an award-winning short film, "Bartleby 2013", based on Herman Melville's short story. His acting exploits can be seen on television, in film, on stage and on the internet.
