Barbara Twist

Managing Director at Art House Convergence

Barbara Twist is a filmmaker based in Detroit, Michigan. As a producer, her credits include an independent feature, Consideration (2013), and as a director, her credits include Shark Tank, a short film which screened at the 2011 Traverse City Film Festival. She is currently in post-production on two short films. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, she is the Managing Director of the Art House Convergence, an international organization for the art house and independent theater community. In her work with Art House Convergence, she hosts several annual educational events for the independent exhibition industry as well as manages the community of independent theaters through multiple engagement programs. She has created and led educational panels for partner organizations, including the Association of Moving Image Archivists, the League of Historic American Theaters, the National Association of Theater Owners, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the international organizations, Europa Cinemas and CICAE. She has been on several film festival juries, including the Austin Film Festival. She was featured in BoxOffice's "Women in Film" issue in October 2015 and consults for movie theaters around the country. She is a board member of Cinema Detroit and the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and a member of a Detroit-based women's filmmaking collective, Final Girls.
