Elizabeth Rose

Elizabeth Rose is a Canadian-Ameican filmmaker. She is currently in her final year as an MFA candidate in Screenwriting and Directing at Columbia University in New York City where she is the co­chair of Columbia Women in Film, a student group that advocates for and empowers female filmmakers within the Graduate School of the Arts, and is a preceptor in Documentary Filmmaking, teaching Columbia undergraduates. In 2015 Elizabeth was awarded the inaugural Alex Sichel Fellowship for a promising female filmmaker who reflects “Alex’s bold vision, acute intelligence and overall curiosity and vitality”. 

In 2014 Elizabeth co­wrote and co­produced an Icelandic­American short film, CHUM, that premiered at The Austin Film Festival and went on to win the Icelandic Academy awards for best screenplay, and best film, won best short at the Montreal International Film Festival, played at Clermont-­Ferrand, the Austin Film Festival and sold to Canal+.

Before beginning study at Columbia, Elizabeth produced music videos that premiered on Vice’s Noisey, Pitchfork, and Consequence of Sound, including videos for indie rapper Aesop Rock, ZZZ Top and CyclesTo Gehenna (over 560k views).

She graduated from Harvard University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in English Literature.
