Jacob Burns

writer/director Electric Nostalgia; co-founder Planet Thunder Productions

When Jacob Leighton Burns was in third grade, he told his elementary school counselor that he was going to be a movie director when he grew up, and ever since then, he has been working towards that goal. He spent his early years in Joplin, Missouri, but moved with his family to Oklahoma City, Ok just before attending high school. Using an old video camera that had been a gift from a family friend, Jacob spent much of his free time convincing his friends and family to appear in his charmingly offbeat no-budget home movies.

After graduating high school in 2004, Jacob enrolled as a Film Production major at Oklahoma City University where his love of filmmaking and passion for storytelling expanded and flourished under the guidance of Fritz Kiersch (Director: Children of the Corn) and Gray Frederickson (Producer: The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now). While attending OCU, Jacob and his brother, Zachary Burns, met Vinnie Hogan, and together they produced over 20 short films, laying the foundation for many future collaborations.

In 2013, applying the knowledge and experience he gained on set over the years, Jacob acted as producer and cinematographer on an independent horror/comedy feature film called The Fable of Shannon Cable, written and directed by his producing partner Vinnie Hogan. Building upon the success of their first feature film, Jacob, Zachary, and Vinnie formed Planet Thunder Productions, with the intent to create unique and memorable films of any length or genre. Under the Planet Thunder banner, they produced a science fiction thriller, written and directed by Jacob, called Electric Nostalgia.
