Max Borenstein

creator Minority Report (television show); writer Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla 2
Max Borenstein is a screenwriter and director who captures the soul and complexity of richly developed characters. His films push the boundaries while maintaining an authenticity regardless of genre. Borenstein wrote the script for 2014’s blockbuster GODZILLA, an epic, contemporary reinvention of the iconic franchise that has already earned over $500 million in global box-office revenue. The film, which stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Johnson and is directed by Gareth Edwards, was released by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures this May.

Borenstein’s next feature, KONG: SKULL ISLAND, a new version of the King Kong myth, is due out in November 2016 from Universal Studios. In 2015, Borenstein created and served as show-runner on Steven Spielberg’s television adaptation of his hit film MINORITY REPORT for the Fox network.

Currently, Borenstein and movie star Tobey Maguire are collaborating on the creation of a dramatic cable series, CITY OF CLAY, about the epic rise of Los Angeles at the turn of the 20th century. Max Borenstein wrote, edited, and directed his first feature film SWORDSWALLOWERS AND THIN MEN while a senior at Yale University. The comedic drama, starring Zoe Kazan, won Best Feature and Best Screenplay at the New York Independent Film Festival and was named Best First Feature of 2003 by the LOS ANGELES TIMES. His screenplays WHAT IS LIFE WORTH?, based on Kenneth Feinberg's memoir of the same name, and JIMI, based on the life of guitarist Jimi Hendrix, were both honored on The Black List.
