Noelle Stehman

Betsy Van Stone and Noelle Stehman are a female-driven comedy writing team across various mediums. Upon finishing respective stints in the NBC Page and DGA Trainee Programs, they began their career together at VH1 in New York where they worked on such high-brow shows as Awesomely Naked, Wacky Baby Names and Hottest Celebrity Dads. After writing and training in the fast-paced VH1 pitch rooms, they turned their focus to scripted and began exploring their options at the Austin Film Festival.Their first experience at AFF landed them their kickass lawyer, opened the door to meeting literally billions of contacts and friends and inspired them to move to LA. They went on to place in several AFF competitions including as Second Rounders for their feature 29 Blows and Semifinalists for their New Girl spec in 2014.

Since living in Los Angeles, they’ve sold a pilot pitch to Lionsgate called Do Over and optioned a feature called Revenge Wedding. Currently they’re awaiting the imminent release of a web series they wrote and co-produced for comedian Sara Schaefer called Clean Freaks and are in talks to develop their new ½ hour comedy Screwed.

Betsy is from Austin and attended the University of Texas where she studied drinking on 6th street and journalism. Noelle hails from Amish country, PA and majored in screenwriting at Yale. And if she looks familiar, yes that was her hand in the opening credits of Children of the Corn V.

Betsy and Noelle are excited that female-driven comedy is finally being truly embraced and are committed to creating flawed female characters, no matter what Trump says. They both reside in Los Angeles where they refuse to do yoga or eat kale.
